NOAA scientists cleaning the Pacific Ocean of illegal fishing nets and other harmful trash saw a green sea turtle still alive but trapped in a net. The divers were able to cut the net and let the turtle go. Mark Manuel, the operation manager of NOAA’s Coral Reef Ecosystem Division’s Marine Debris Project in northern Hawaiian islands, explained the untangling.
